Financial Survival and Career Resources for Activists

One of the most significant challenges in fighting the good fight is making sure that you yourself are financially solvent. For more than 12 years, Idealist.org has been providing activists and the nonprofit sector at large not only a place to find meaningful work, but also a forum for sharing ideas and resources related to social sector employment. We believe that any citizen can "do well by doing good," and this workshop will focus on providing skills and resources to help activists achieve that kind of personal sustainability.

Presenter: Jake Brewer of Idealist.org

Jake Brewer is a global activist, entrepreneur, and citizen who serves as the partnership manager for the international nonprofit organization Idealist.org. He is passionate about linking and utilizing strategic networks in the business, nonprofit, and media sectors to affect sustainable social change.

Jake is a published photographer and writer - currently he is a blogger for the Huffington Post - and in addition to his role with Idealist.org, serves on the board of directors for Hostelling International, as an advisor to the University of Texas Project on Conflict Resolution, as a special advisor to the 2008 UN World Summit Simulation Mission, and as the Director of Education Without Borders - an action-oriented conference in the United Arab Emirates which brings more than 1000 university students from 100 countries together to discuss "innovative solutions to global challenges."

Through art, technology, skill sharing, and vision we are building a better world.
